I jumped into the project not only because of the music, but also because of the political stance. I have been vegan for years and care deeply about animal and human rights.
Fatima Almeida was born in Quito, Ecuador. She began singing at the age of 15, influenced by industrial metal, alternative metal and nu-metal bands like Marilyn Manson, My Ruin, Alice in Chains, Slipknot, Fear Factory, and A Perfect Circle. These bands and genres had a significant impact on her musical style, which she brought to the bands Anema and Faceless, where she was the lead singer.
With Faceless, she had the opportunity to perform alongside bands such as Descomunal and Colapso. During this time, she met Carlos Rodriguez, who played guitar and drums. After a few years, Fatima moved to the United States and began exploring more extreme metal genres, including black metal, death metal, and doommetal, which further inspired her vocal techniques.
Upon returning to Quito for a couple of years, she joined Drama, an experimental metalband with strong industrial influences. During this period, she played with other experimental bands in the Quito metal scene.
Fatima now resides in Hamburg, Germany. She reconnected with Carlos Rodriguez, a guitar player and producer, to collaborate on his project, Colossal. Along with Remie(guitars) and Carlos, they have been working on their first EP for the last six months.
